Through thick and thin..

"A friend is someone who believes in you.. when you've ceased to believe in yourself"
Leanne, me, Skye, Christine B, Ashley, Christine W

I think good friends are one of Gods greatest blessings. These are my girlfriends that I have spent every Tuesday night with for almost 3 years. We had all been going to The Bridge for awhile but hadn't really gotten connected with anyone at church. Mike and Christine stepped up and put up a sign up sheet for a "young and married with no kids yet" bible study.  Long story short we all signed up and now almost three years later, two couples have 1 year olds and one couple has a 6 month old and well the rest of us are loving holding and snuggly them every week!
These girls have been such a great support group for me. We have all been through so much together and we support one another through the ups and downs of life. We have studied many chapters of the bible and try to learn as much as we can about it but relate it to our own lives now. We have done a few Francis Chan books which I highly recommend. They will challenge your faith tremendously. We have done video series on marriage.
We pray with each other, cry with each other, believe in each other, and celebrate with each other. I think we have come a long way since we met almost three years ago. I am so thankful to have each and everyone of you girls in my life! Love you all.

Weekend Love

Wow it is crazy how much happier I feel when the SUN comes out! This weekend made me super excited about spring and summer.
This weekend was really good for a few reasons.. I got to spend the whole day on Saturday  with my friend Danielle who is sadly moving back to Winnipeg in a few short weeks! We have worked together for a few years now so she will be greatly missed! The day started off with a sunny drive into Kerrisdale where we walked around and did a little thrifting! I found a cute shabby chic mirror and a frame to make into a chalkboard for Tracycakes.
We then went to Secret Garden for high tea which was simply a divine experience. Mom and I have been there once before and I just knew Danielle would love it since she is a fellow high tea lover.

The evening was spent having some fondue with some friends from the fire department! Butch and Gina make the best fondue. The cheese balls are too die for! I made an Angel Food cake topped with fresh berries to celebrate the nice spring day! I used my new mixer that Mika suprised me with for Christmas! I really have the best husband.

Since the sun was so inspiring this weekend I decided I want to re-do our deck and try and make it a bit more relaxing feeling! Here are some photos of spring/summer inspiration for the deck. I am definetly going to make another herb garden this year.

Happy Monday!

Lately I have been dreaming a lot... Dreaming about spring coming... I can't wait to get out and ride my bike and go to the river for picnic dinners. One of our favorite things to do is pack up a quick picnic after work and head to the river. Mika is not "sandwich" picniker. He loves to pack his mini bbq and cook us up some good food  for for dinner! Pair it with wine, the best husband, and a gorgeous view and you have the perfect evening!
I've also been dreaming about bigger more substantial things that picnics and bike riding..Surprising I know..! Dreaming about what mine and Mika's life is going to look like in a few years.
Lately I have been trying to dream big and pray for answers about these dreams as well.
There are so many exciting ideas and plans on the horizon. I am so excited to see what God has planned for our lives in the next few years. I also have to remember that I'm not in charge of my own life either and that God knows whats best for us and sometimes I really need to remind myself of that.
Jeremiah 29:11 is a verse that really speaks to me right now.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Tomorrow is Thursday which means it's almost the weekend! On Saturday my dear friend Danielle and I are heading to Secret Garden in Kitsalano for high tea and obviously some thrifting!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Love Saturday Thrifting!

So today was another rainy Saturday... I am getting quite sick of those.. A good way to cure the rainy blues is to go thrifting with my Mom. Sometimes we find some great finds and sometimes not so much. Today we found some cute finds. I found a glass dome lid which sparked the idea to make my own cake stand! I picked out a vintage looking white plate and a old wine glass to glue to the bottom. My wonderful hubby glued it together for me and I think it turned out great! The total cost for the tier is..... $1.55!
Some other finds were some bracelets, a plant holder, a mint green neclace, and a adorable glass dish!  A total cost of about $6 (thanks Mom!)
Here are some photos of my thrifting finds and my infinity scarves that I sewed earlier this week. I am off to have a picinic date night at home with my husband which includes sushi, wine and board games!
Happy Saturday!

First time blogging!

Welcome to my blog! I have wanted to start a blog for awhile now. A place where I can share my thoughts and obviously where I can share awesome ideas, recipes, crafts and loveliness!
Lately I have been feeling the winter blues. Last week I was in Palm Springs with my Mom and sister and the weather was just wonderful and this week has just been terribly cold and rainy! I am itching to wear my some of my new spring outfits. I have been working on some sewing projects to brighten my mood! This week I have made a few infinity scarves which are super easy and quick. I love those kind of projects since it feels like I accomplish a lot in very little time. I will post some photos later this week.
