Thrifting finds...!

I love thrifting. I love walking into a thrift store and not knowing what I'm looking for and finding some treasures! I found this adorable clutch yesterday. I think it will go perfectly with my bridesmaid dress for my bestie Michelle's wedding.

Today my sister and I had a sister date. Obviously that always involved some tea and thrifting! I found a canner today. I have been canning for a few years now but always have to borrow someones so I figured I needed one of my own! I plan on doing lots of canning this summer. Some new things I want to try canning are Apricot Vanilla Bean jam and some Corn Relish! I'll do my regular raspberry jam, pickles, pickled beans, peaches and salsa too!

 Hopefully this crazy rain stops soon so everything can start growing and I can start canning! Well I am off to make dinner. We have some friends coming over tonight My hubby cooked a roast and it is smelling delicious!

Confession time

A few confessions...

-on Mondays I purposely try and make my evening free from 8-10 to watch Bachelorette...I know it's horrible mind garbage but it's just so addicting to watch..

-sometimes I crave sprinkle donuts from Tim Hortons..Weird I know!

- I don't know how to properly iron..When something needs to be ironed I fluff it in the dryer. Ironing is just a domestic skill I just haven't mastered yet!

-I'm secretly really excited for Fall. I LOVE everything about fall. Boots, sweaters and shopping for new boots and sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, apples, picking apples, butternut squash anything, and cold crisp sunny days. It's also my birthday in September and if you know me well, you know I'm a "birthday monster" says my Mom.

- sometimes I don't make the bed in the morning before going to work but quickly make it after work before my hubby gets home and pretend I made it in the morning

4 years ago...

4 years ago I was blessed enough to marry my best friend. We have had so many fun adventures together since we've been married and I am excited to see what God has in store for us in these next few years. I'm so blessed to be able to spend my life with such an amazing man.

A Weekend Retreat

This weekend Mika and I spent the weekend with our bible study group at a cabin on Loon Lake. We really got to spend some quality time together. The boys went fishing, hiking, and shooting. And us girls relaxed and gave each other pedis while watching Pride and Prejudice. We also made tons of yummy food and just enjoyed each others company.
On Sunday morning we had church outside on the deck overlooking the lake.  Since it has almost been 3 years that we have been together as a group, we all shared some of our favourite memories. I treasure all of these people so much. God has really blessed us with a sense of family and community with these friends.  We have been through so much together and I'm not sure if would be where I am today if it weren't for our Tuesday nights together. It is such a blessing to have a solid family-like group of friends that we know we can always count on!

Monday Blues...

Today I have a good case of the Monday blues..
This rainy weather doesn't help cheer my mood up either!
This weekend was full of fun adventures. On Saturday my sister and I went to Old Clayburn Village Tea Shop for lunch. It was delicious! We love going to quaint places like this for lunch!

Obviously there was some thrifting involved on our Saturday outing as well. I scored and got this

cute dress, a striped tank from Gap, cute pearl necklace, a work dress, and some cute tea cups all for $17! I came home and told my hubby that I "tithed" $17 at MCC. He never buys it but it makes me feel better at least!

 My plan is to slowly buy cute tea cups and eventually have my girlfriends over for afternoon tea. So far I only have 3 cute tea cups. I refuse to pay any more than $5 so that limits my cute tea cup choices.

On Sunday Mika took me on a lovely date. We went for a picnic and bike ride. (my favourite date if you haven't caught on yet). Then we went to Grama and Grumpa's antiques in the Sumas Flats. If you haven't been there you should check it out! It's a few barns full of antiques. It's really cool but quite overwhelming. The only things I saw that I wanted were a cute pink bike, but I already have a cute mint green one...and I found a really cute china cup but it was over my $5 limit so I didn't get it!

After our date we got to go and hold Fox! He is home from the hospital now and is doing great.

Praise God that he is healed!

Sunday evening we went to my parents for dinner. A weekly tradition that I adore and always look forward to. We had dinner and then spent the evening on my parents new patio.

A great way to end the weekend! We are so blessed!

Prayers for baby Fox!

This is my nephew Fox Daniel Dueck. He was born on Tuesday morning this week. He is still in the NICU at the hospital since he was born with a small tear on his lungs. He needs to stay in a incubator and a oxygen shield to help his tear heal faster. Please pray that his tear heals and that he can go home soon with his Mom and Dad!

We love you so much Fox! Can't wait to snuggle with you! Love, Auntie Mel
